Background

Valena White Harsh, a first-generation student from Letcher County, Kentucky, became a dedicated educator and retired after a successful career in public schools. Alongside her husband, Donald Eugene Harsh, she established the Donald Eugene Harsh & Valena White Harsh Endowed Workship Fund to assist students who face financial challenges.

Education Journey

Valena’s commitment to education began as a first-generation student. She recognized the importance of supporting students in overcoming financial barriers and was inspired to create opportunities for future generations at the University of the Cumberlands.

Legacy

The Endowed Workship Fund established by Valena and Donald provides financial assistance to students, ensuring that higher education remains accessible and continues to foster growth and achievement.
