James R. Clem

A $1 Million Bequest and Enduring Legacy

University of the Cumberlands

Life and Legacy

Before his passing in August 2021, James R. Clem, a 1954 graduate of the University of the Cumberlands, shared his heartfelt story of how his time at the university helped prepare him for a full and successful life.

In June 2018, driven by a strong desire to “give back,” Clem established a scholarship fund to assist struggling students, similar to the challenges he faced during his academic journey. His commitment culminated in a generous $1 million bequest to the university, ensuring that his legacy would continue to support students for generations to come.

Impact

The James R. Clem Scholarship Fund stands as a testament to his dedication to education and his enduring impact on the University of the Cumberlands community.
